Colleen Cannon Hunter

KAYSVILLE - Colleen Cannon Hunter passed away March 10, 2017 in Layton, Utah. She was 82 years old. She was born September 1, 1934 in Garland, Utah to Lewis Reed and Georgia Opal Clark Cannon. She was the fifth of seven children. Her family lived in Stone, Idaho for many years. Colleen was raised in Utah, California, and Idaho. On December 12, 1952 she married Boyd M. Hunter of Springville, Utah, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had six children, Deborah, Michele, Pamela, Christine, Boyd Tyler and William Cannon.
Colleen was always active in the LDS Church, serving in many positions over the years. She went with her husband to Germany when he was in the USAF for two years. They lived in American Fork, Utah where Boyd taught at American Fork High School. In the summer of 1968 they moved to Cardston, Alberta, Canada where they lived and her husband taught school in the small town of Magrath, Alberta. He taught band and orchestra at Magrath High School and organized a national award winning marching band, and a championship football team. They lived in Cardston for eleven years and returned to Utah in 1979. They raised their children in Cardston and American Fork, Utah.
After returning to Utah they lived in Kaysville for many years. Colleen worked at HAFB for ten years. After she retired from there she and her husband served an LDS mission to the Germany Dusseldorf Mission. She also served several stake missions. She loved doing genealogy work and research for her beloved ancestors. She loved the Temple and was an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple for several years. Colleen and Boyd loved to travel and were able to visit many countries.
Colleen loved her family very much and was always proud of their accomplishments. She is survived by her husband Boyd, her children, Deborah (Greg) Burt, Michele (Louis, deceased) Mirabile, Pamela (Dan) Court, Christine, Tyler (Melinda) Hunter, William (Brusan) Hunter, 23 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 at 12 p.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood LDS Chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood Road, Kaysville. Friends may visit with family from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
