Colleen Ruth Lyon Stadtfeld-Pope, our dear wife, mother and grandmother passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, after an extended illness with Lewy Body Dementia.
Mom was born in South Salt Lake City, UT on January 28, 1945, to Viola Johnson Lyon Merkley and Eugene Q. Lyon. She was the youngest of four children. She attended and graduated from Granite High School in 1963.
Mom married Larry Stadtfeld in July of 1964. Together they had five children: Gene Stadtfeld of Roy, UT, Jim (Debb) Stadtfeld of Merlin, OR, Traci (Ken) Webster of Ogden, UT, John (Angie) Stadtfeld of Farr West, UT, and Stephanie (Jorge) Galvez of West Point, UT. Colleen and Larry later divorced.
In 1997, Colleen married Gary Pope. Together, they have lived in Roy, UT, West Haven, UT, and most recently in Syracuse, UT. Gary and Colleen enjoyed country dancing and camping in the great outdoors. It wouldn’t be unusual to see them with a Starbucks cup in their hands.
From 1976 to 1984, Mom owned and operated “Colleen’s Drape Shop” where she made custom interiors, such as comforters, drapes and upholstered pillows. From 1984 until her retirement is 2017, Mom was a supervisor/manager for companies such as: Credit Bureau of SLC/TRW, American Investment Bank, Franklin Capital Corporation, and Foursight Capital, where she made many life-long friends.
Mom loved to sew. She was so naturally gifted at making beautiful clothing pieces, such as wedding gowns and special occasion dresses for family and friends. She loved her garden and spent many weekends tending to it. She also loved to prepare and cook delicious meals for her family.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers LeRoy and Don Lyon and sister Rea Goddard. She is survived by her husband, Gary, her five children, thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved nieces Cheri Kearl, Christy Bezzant and Rachel Layton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 am at Lindquist’s Syracuse Mortuary, 869 South 2000 West, Syracuse, UT. Family and friends may attend a viewing on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
