Colleen Ehn Weyburn

Surrounded by loved ones in her home, Colleen Ehn Weyburn was reunited with her husband and son on Wednesday, August 7, 2013.

Colleen was born and raised by George and Leda Ehn on March 25, 1924 in Salina, Utah. It was here where she met her true love, Alva Weyburn at a local carnival. Colleen and Alva were later married on May 3, 1940. Together they moved to Layton Utah. Later, with her their four boys in school, Mom establish gainful employment with the Davis County School District as a Cook for Vae View Elementary. After 19 years of combined service, Mom retired as Head Cook from Layton Elementary.

In 1981, Colleen and Alva moved to Athol, Idaho where they lived for many years in a cabin they had built. To be closer to family, they moved to Roy, Utah in 1994. Mom delighted in the many grand, great-grand, and great-great grand children that came over the years. In 1995 Alva passed away in Roy, Utah.

Although Mom was fighting cancer, she didn''t let that slow her down. She loved getting around, staying busy, and always being on the go. Before terminal diagnoses, Colleen kept herself busy with weekly visits to the Temple, the Golden Hour, West Point and Hooper Senior center. She even had time to go to the Roy Complex for her water aerobics. Colleen cherished the opportunity to help her friends. She knew they relied on her to take them wherever they needed to go. She delighted in serving others. Mom especially loved playing pinochle with family and friends. Mom was very passionate about crocheting. She could whip up a beautiful doily in only a few days.

Colleen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a visiting teacher.

Colleen leaves behind a legacy of family members who loved her dearly and she wanted them to celebrate her life, not morn her death. Surviving are three sons, Steven Rex (Norine) Weyburn, Layton; Geary Milton (Jolene) Weyburn, Roy; Jeffery Alva ( Patricia) Weyburn, Layton; 12 grand children, 31.5 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her oldest son Edward Weyburn, and one sister Irene Ehn Turner.

She was a FUN Grandma. She always had a joke to tell. Special thanks to Jonathan Lee and Gail Peterson for their selfless service and genuine friendship.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12th at 11 a.m. at the Monte Vista Ward Chapel, 3845 South 2000 West Roy, UT.
