Collins Thompson 9/21/28 a" 12/15/12
Collins LaRue Thompson passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah of complications from a stroke. He has gone to see his mother, who died when he was in his teens.
He was born September 21, 1928 in Clarkston, Utah the son of Newell and Amy Griffiths Thompson and spent an industrious childhood working the farm with his eleven siblings. He married LuDean Muir, June 7, 1954 in the Logan Temple.
After four years in the Marines, he attended Utah State University. After graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering, he spent his career working for the Federal Highway Administration in several western states, most notably Utah and South Dakota. Later in his career, he accepted an assignment in Kuwait, working there for six years. This was an adventurous time in his life, providing the opportunity to visit 45 countries.
Throughout his life, Collins enjoyed hunting, camping, skiing, waterskiing and tinkering with his computer. His favorite times were spent with his family and working in the Salt Lake Temple for 17 very special years.
Collins leaves his wife LuDean and three children: Bruce (Maelena) Thompson, Jackie Davidson and Neal (Linda) Thompson, as well as five grandchildren. Preceded in death by an infant son Chris.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Bountiful 54th Ward Chapel, 540 N. 1200 E. where friends may visit family from 9:30 a" 10:30 am prior to services. Interment Clarkston City Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary.
