CONNIE BEAZER O’BRIEN

1939-2020

Connie Beazer O’Brien passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Syracuse Raintree Assisted Living Center. She was born January 9, 1939 to Roy and Audrey Beazer.

Connie married her high school sweetheart Rodney O’Brien February 14, 1955 and was married until his passing in April of 2000. She later met and married Read Tolman in the Ogden LDS Temple in 2001 and was married until his passing in January of 2011.

Connie was raised in Syracuse, UT and attended Davis High School. After she and Rod were married, they lived in Layton, UT in the home they built on Church St.; she resided there until her health declined.  She then moved to the Raintree Assisted Living Center in Syracuse where she resided until her passing.

Connie was the first female employee at the Syracuse RC Willey store and was very proud to have had that honor.  Connie was a very talented and creative lady. She owned and operated Connie’s Main Street Floral in Layton for a number of years.

Connie was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very generous and giving and always put others needs ahead of her own. One of her favorite things to do each year on Mother’s Day was to give every mother in her ward a corsage or flower to make sure each and every one was honored. She continued this tradition until she sold her flower shop. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a special place in her heart for children especially her grandchildren.

Connie’s favorite holidays were Halloween and Christmas. She had a passion for her collections of witches, displaying every one of them during the month of October and she was always on the hunt for new ones. She loved travelling  and going to yard sales and thrift shops looking for her special treasures and antiques. She loved the thrill of the hunt.

Connie had 3 children: a daughter, Joanie O’Brien Shinkle; and 2 sons, Kelly and Doug O’Brien. She is survived by sons:  Kelly, Ogden; Doug (Lisa), Syracuse; and a special niece she helped raise as a daughter, Holly (Wayne) Johnson, Mountain Green. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Levi (Elena) Shinkle, Zach O’Brien, Kade O’Brien, Sadie Barlow, Duane, Wyatt, and Chance Johnson; 2 great-grandsons and a great granddaughter due in February; a brother Paul (Ida) Beazer, sister-in-law Norma Beazer, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her daughter Joanie; her grandsons Justin Shinkle and Skylar O’Brien; her parents; 3 brothers: Layne, Gordon and Gary Beazer; and her sister Leona Frahm.

The family would like to thank all of the special girls at the Raintree Assisted Living Center who took care of Connie--especially Kylee, Rylee, Bailey and Lexi. Also, a special thanks to her hospice nurse Korie.
