SALT LAKE CITY- After a struggle with a failing heart, Cordell Baird (Cork) passed away July 13, 2012.

Cork was born on April 12, 1933 and raised in Idaho on a farm where he learned a hard work ethic and values that would serve him well throughout his life. He later moved to Ogden where he met and married the love of his life Deon Richins. Together they raised a loving family of 2 daughters and a son.

In his early years, he lived life fully and earned a few dollars riding broncos at rodeos. He was also a Golden Gloves boxer who carried that fighting spirit right up to his last moments.

Cork was proud of his Naval Military service during the Korean War. He continued his service to his country at Hill Air Force Base, where he began working in the Weapons Depot.

After the war, he was trained and worked as an Aircraft Mechanic & Electrician on fighter jets. His career progressed as a production supervisor, retiring in 1986 as a manager overseeing the vital task of the repair and maintenance on F-4 Phantom fighter jets.

Above all, Cork had a great love and devotion to his family. He lived a full and interesting life that was illustrative of a bygone era, where life was lived to the fullest with value and honor.

Surviving family are wife Edith Deon Baird; daughters Lisa (David) Milliken, Shelly (Tom) Cordova; Grandchildren Dennis Donahoe, Trisha Lynn Wilson, Liberty Cordova, Brandy Larry, Luke Baird, Lacy Rodriguez, Matthew Baird, Ryan Obin and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Cordell W. Baird.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends at the mortuary Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:45 to 10:45.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
