Corey Roger Gardner
October 8, 1971 ~ March 24, 2022
Our beloved Corey Roger Gardner departed this life on March 24, 2022 in the LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah from Acute Myeloid Leukemia Cancer at age 50. Corey was born on October 8, 1971 to Roger Dale and Francis DeeAnn (Jones) Gardner in the old McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.
Corey’s mother, Francis DeeAnn Gardner; grandparents, Dale and Joanne Gardner and Marvel Jones preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Cherie Margaret (Mecham) Gardner; father, Roger Dale Gardner; siblings, Shaundee (Gardner) and David Vogeler, Trevor Gardner, Devin Gardner and Shauna Norcross, Lindsay Gardner, Dirk and Trudy (Goodworth) Gardner, and Tyson Gardner; grandparents, Doris (Jones) and Douglas Olson.
Corey served in the Toronto Canada Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 19 in 1992 to 1994. He attended Weber State College, receiving his Degree of Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Service Technology-ATED. He was also ASE Certified.
Corey married Cherie Margaret Mecham on April 9, 1999 in the Logan Utah Temple. Corey served in the Boy Scouts for many years, enjoying his work with the Young Men.
As a tiny boy, Corey wanted to know how things worked. He would take his Christmas toys apart just to see how they worked and then try to put them back together again. He loved puzzles, putting together model engines, games, computers, anything he had to think about to solve problems; he was a puzzler. These basic instincts lead him to his success in solving problems with the machines he worked on. Corey loved working on cars, trucks, actually anything with an engine and wheels. He could listen to a running engine or machinery and could diagnose the problem. That is one reason why he was so good at his job. His last job was with Kennecott Utah Cooper/Rio Tinto. This was his favorite job ever! He truly enjoyed going to work.
Corey was so loved by those who knew him. He had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh and wanted to help everyone he could. He was truly like the Savior, who went about doing good and serving others. We will miss him dearly!
