Corilla B. Anderson
KAYSVILLE – Corilla B. Anderson, 90, died peacefully on March 27th, 2017. She was born on October 4, 1926, to Ivan Sessions and Corilla Bone, in Chesterfield, Idaho.
Mother grew up during the depression. Living on a farm provided plenty of food and shelter but few luxuries. She attended school in a two-room school house in Chesterfield through the sixth grade, and then attended school in Bancroft, Idaho. Her family moved to Kaysville and she attended Davis High School her senior year. After high school graduation, she attended Brigham Young University, where she had many good memories of her time there. It was a happy, carefree time in her life.
She met her sweetheart, Bob Anderson, while attending BYU. Her first date with dad was a violin concert at the old Provo Tabernacle, now the Provo City Center Temple. They were married on December 20, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple, and enjoyed 63 years of married life together. She was a wonderful supportive wife, mother, and grandmother, and was happiest when she was with her family.
Mother was an Idaho farm girl all her life. When she was young she milked cows by hand, helped harvest the hay, herded cattle, and chopped wood for the family’s wood burning stove. After she was married, she brought this experience with her to Kaysville. Dad was a city boy. She taught him how to plant a large vegetable garden every spring. In the fall it was a family event each Saturday to harvest and bottle the fruits and vegetables. She always enjoyed planting and maintaining her flower garden with help from her daughters. We raised chickens for eggs and meat. At times we had rabbits, a milk cow, a steer, and a sheep. If there was dirt or grass on her sidewalk she would sweep it up. She kept her home spotless.
Mother worked at Bowman’s Market during her high school senior year. After high school she was a telephone operator until she started her family. She was a stay-at-home mother while her children were young. She cooked three delicious meals for her family every day. She worked at Clover Club Foods, Clearfield Navy Base, and was the first school bus assistant for Davis County Schools.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served in the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She and dad served two missions, one in New Zealand/Fiji for 18 months, and one in Frankfort, Kentucky, for one year. She was a temple ordinance worker in both the Ogden and Bountiful Temples. She was always a good example to her children by the way she lived her life.
She is survived by sons Dennis (Dixie) of Bountiful, Allen (Kathy) of Kaysville, Boyd (Stephanie) of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and daughter Bonnie (Dane) Ligon of Layton. She has 19 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. Her husband Robert, her daughter Carolyn, and her granddaughter Wendy Anderson preceded her in death.
