Corinne Renee Valentine

Corinne Renee Valentine, 90, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. She was born on September 21, 1928, the third of twelve children of Theodore Leonard and Elizabeth Koop Halverson; born in Carson, North Dakota and raised in Raleigh, North Dakota. Her family moved to Boise, Idaho, where she graduated from Meridian High School.
She met James Emil Valentine who played baseball for the Boise Pilots and later the Ogden Reds. He was a catcher and ended up catching Corinne. Her sister, DeLoras, ended up marrying the pitcher, Al Neuenschwander. Corrine and James started their family in Boise and settled in Sunset where they grew to a family of nine.
Corinne was a waitress at several hotels, including the Ramada Inn, but mostly she was a hardworking homemaker who loved gardening, square dancing, bowling, and playing Pinochle with her friends. In later years she learned to golf with Jimmy. A member of the Jayceettes Club, Corinne was very social, she came from a fun family and she loved to laugh.
Corinne is survived by her children, Barbara J. (Calvin) Kap, Pamela (Richard) Vandenberg, Teri Kay (Craig) Gomm, James N. Valentine, and David B. (Karen) Valentine; 22 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Halverson; and sisters, Shirley Wallace and Sharon Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Nancy Bennett and Kim Waddoups; grandson, Brandon Cecil Kap; and eight of her siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
The family thanks the staff of Hearts for Hospice, particularly Jasmine and granddaughter, Kylee.
