Cornelius Hendrikus Delight

LAYTON – Cornelius Hendrikus Delight, 92, returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father and the loving arms of his wife Connie on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 29, 1925 in Rotterdam, Netherlands and is the son of Cornelis Hendrikus and Anna Christina Dorotina Heitman de Ligt.

Cornelius married Hillegonda (Connie) van Hulst on May 28, 1947 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 31, 1953.

Cornelius survived World War II and immigrated to the US in 1951 with his wife and two children.

He retired after 30 years of service at Hill Air Force Base as an instrument machinist and was the Owner of Dutchmaid Products, Dutch Boy Building Maintenance and Dutchboy Carpet Cleaners.

Cornelius started the first soccer club in Davis County and was a soccer coach for many years.

Cornelius was an active member of the LDS Church serving in various positions including, High Priest Leadership and the Sunday School Presidency.  He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ.

Surviving are his children, Thelma Delight Whitaker, Elvera Delight, David Neal Delight, 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Connie Delight,son, Carl H. Delight, siblings, Johanna de Ligt van Soolen, Nicolass de Ligt, Huberta de Ligt, Ann de Ligt, van de Mosselaar, Huberta de Ligt Hameetman and Dirk de Ligt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Dawson Hollow Ward Chapel, 2435 E. 1500 N. (turn north off Cherry Lane onto Evergreen Lane, 2400 E), Layton.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
