– Cory Wayne Thompson passed from this earthly existence in the early morning of Saturday, April 12, 2008, from injuries sustained in a tragic bicycle accident.
Cory was born March 22, 1981 to Wayne and DeLynne Thurman Thompson. He entered this world four minutes after his twin sister, Heather. Cory was a very caring, sensitive, giving and fun-loving soul. He was educated in Davis and Weber Counties, graduating from Roy High School in 2000.
Always a big tease, with a loving, quirky sense of humor, he was a friend to everyone and never wanted to disappoint anyone. No one could give better hugs than Cory. When Cory was around, you knew you were loved. He loved being with family and had a special connection with animals. He had pets his entire life. He was a fan of TV, movies, video games, Sonic the Hedgehog, and anything with Jon Cleese.
Cory married Erica Stevenson on August 13, 2004. They were the proud parents of two adorable, spunky boys, Xadin (4), and Keltin, (2). He was also a stepfather and best friend to Brendin Stevenson (12). Cory’s boys were the light of his life. He loved his boys more than life itself. Rarely did you ever see Cory when he wasn’t tickling, kissing, playing or snuggling with his boys. He was an excellent hands-on father. He was with his kids almost every day. He even worked swing/graveyard shifts so he could be with his kids during the day so they wouldn’t need daycare while their mother was at work.
Cory’s first job was working for his grandparents at the PinePole Goat Dairy. He had a special bond with his Grandma and Grandpa Goat, especially his Grandmother.
Cory worked at Autoliv in Ogden. He enjoyed the friendships he made there.
Cory is paving the way to the next life for his ex-wife and good friend, Erica, boys, Xadin, Keltin and Brendin; dad, Wayne (Susan), mom, DeLynne, sister, Heather, brother, Eric (Jacquie and nephew, Tristen, due in June), stepsisters, Stephanie and Jamie, stepbrother, Dustin, grandparents, D.L. and Jane Thurman, special friends, Robin and Belva Provost, Dale Stevenson, Angie and Issac Astin, and many aunts uncles and cousins.
Welcoming him to the next life are his grandparents, Delwin and Belva Thompson and great-grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Cory didn’t like getting dressed up. In Cory’s honor please wear casual attire.
Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up for his boys at any Bank of Utah branch.
Cory was always giving and wanted to help others. His final gift was to the Intermountain Donor Society.
We love you Cory!
Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
