Chrisie M. Garcia, our loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
She was born on September 30, 1935 in La Madera, NM, the daughter of Sixto H. and Eleanor G. Martinez.
Chrisie lived in Syracuse, UT most of her childhood and graduated from Davis High School. She worked hard to make her house in Layton, UT a loving home for the family for over 50 years.
Throughout her life, Chrisie was a very hard and dedicated worker to provide the best for her five boys. She retired from Autoliv after many years of service, and was also a very devoted member of the Catholic Church.
Longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, actively involved and supported many activities. She was a member of the St Rose of Lima (CCW) Council of Catholic Women and Sewing Angels. Supported Northern Deanery CCW, RCIA and CCD.
Selected as St. Rose of Lima Woman of the Year by the Council of Catholic Women, Chrisie will be very missed by her fellow members and friends. Chrisie was always known as a social butterfly and was very proud to tell all the stories of her family’s accomplishments. She was always loudly cheering front and center at all events for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always their #1 fan!
Chrisie is survived by her brother, Charlie Martinez; sister, Mary Alice Tate; sons: Mark (Mickie) Garcia, Richard Garcia, Ron (Wendy) Garcia, Mario (Cindy) Garcia, Adrian Garcia,; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Johnny, Joe, LeRoy and Gene Martinez.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel St., Layton, UT. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Vigil with Rosary will be begin at 7 p.m. that evening. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Rocky Mountain Care Center and Hospice for their care and treatment of our loving mom and grandma.
