Cristobal Tafoya

March 12, 1942 — May 1, 2019

Cristobal Avinicio Tafoya, age 77, passed away May 1, 2019 surrounded by his family.  Chris was born to Benjamin and Theodora Romero Tafoya in Taos, New Mexico. He was one of ten children.

He is survived by: his wife, Judy Tafoya; son, Andrew Tafoya; two daughters, KrisAnn Lacey and Angelina Mestas (David Mestas JR).  Chris is also survived by his five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Chris retired from The Federal Aviation Administration in 2003 after 30+ years of service as an Airway Transportation System Specialist.

He spent his younger years drawing, running marathons, and he was known for his green thumb in which he earned awards for. On Sunday's the Layton locals would pass by his yard just to gaze at the flowers. Chris would also grow a garden every year. Planting cherry tomatoes and peas were a must, for his great-grandchildren. They loved to pick and eat them while visiting with gramps outside. He enjoyed puttering around in his garage, collecting treasures. Some may call him an organized hoarder, but those who have visited the garage knew it as Treasure Island.

Chris always put his family first. He made sure that his children, especially his grandchildren knew how much they were loved. When he had a full house, you would sometimes catch him admiring all the commotion with a smile on his face. He was so proud of his family.

Chris' wish was that his ashes be scattered in the mountains of Cañyon, New Mexico. His wife, Judy and all of her kids will be sure to grant this for him.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
