"Grandma"

1916 ~ 2018

Our sweet mother, grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma, 101, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 with her family by her side.

She was born September 25, 1916 the daughter of Leslie and Martha Cristine Halverson Tripp in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the oldest of twelve children.

Vella married Jose Jesus Gomez on March 29, 1934 In Pocatello, Idaho. They were married for 68 years when he preceded her in death on April 27, 2002.

Vella loved to go to Flags West and have coffee, pie and ice cream.  Her greatest joy in life was her family.  She loved them unconditionally and was there for them in every way. We will always remember her charming wit and sparkling blue eyes.   She touched everyone’s heart that knew her.

Surviving are her daughter, Dolores Gomez Fallows, son, Joel Jay (Dodie) Gomez, three grandchildren, Crystina (Craig) Crase, Jesse Hugh Fallows Jr., Jodie Gomez, great-grandchildren, Ashley, Justin, Cole, Quinn, Colton, Kaylea, Jaxon, Joey, Cristine, Gina, great-great-grandchildren, Julian, Brikley, Zydon and Deiante.

Also surviving are her four brothers, Reed Tripp, Vern Tripp, Reynold Tripp, Barry Tripp, two sisters, Colleen Bruce and Louise Millward.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, two infant brothers, sisters, Leitha, Genesee, Bessie, son-in-law, Hugh and granddaughter, Jaclyn.

Graveside services will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Downey Cemetery, Downey, Idaho. Friends may visit family Monday from 11 to 12:30 p.m. at the Downey 2nd Ward, 485 E. Center Street, Downey, Idaho.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
