Curtis Sutton, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, July 21, 2023, following a long battle with multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer.
He was born on October 7, 1956, in Ogden, Utah, the youngest son of Chad and Charlaine Sutton.
Growing up, Curtis lived around the corner from Janae Orgill, his future eternal companion. They were married on February 21, 1975, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple.
Curtis spent his early years in Ogden, Utah, and the last thirty-five years in Layton, Utah. He began his career in nursing and later transitioned to substance abuse therapy. He was passionate about helping people during their recovery process, eventually co-founding Clinical
Consultants in Ogden, Utah.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Curtis faithfully served in various callings. However, serving as an ordinance worker in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples held a special place in his heart. He served faithfully from 2014 until he became ill in
2021. During this time, he developed a deeper personal relationship with the Savior.
As a youth, Curtis loved hunting with his brother (whom he had a special relationship with), parents, and grandparents, especially pheasant hunting. Later, he carried on the tradition with his boys. He enjoyed learning about and working on cars. He was extremely handy and could
figure out how to fix anything.
His greatest joy in life was his family and spending quality time with them. Curtis and Janae loved traveling and spending time together. Every grandchild had countless opportunities when they were young for snuggle time with grandpa in his chair.
He is survived by his eternal companion Janae; his children, Angie Pitts (Paul), Jenny Fairbanks (Joe), Mat (Shannon), and Christopher (Abbi); grandchildren, Hunter Pitts (Jaclyn), Grant Fairbanks (currently serving in the Texas Austin Mission), Anna Pitts, Lauren Fairbanks, Keagan
Sutton, Adrie Fairbanks, Logan Fairbanks, Jaxon Sutton, Camden Sutton, Ella Sutton, Emmy Sutton, Preston Sutton, and baby girl Sutton (due in August).
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Craig, and granddaughters Kaylee and Shalee Pitts.
We’re grateful for the love, care, and support given by Utah Cancer Specialists; Dr. Arango, Erin, Lisa, and Amanda. We would also like to thank Atlas Homecare and Hospice for their tender care during his last days.
