Dagny “Dag” I. Mashek was taken into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 3, 2009.
She was born, the precious gift of Sievert and Caroline Fauske Jordheim, on October 14, 1916 in McLeod, North Dakota. Dagny attended elementary school in McLeod, and graduated from Wyndmere High School, North Dakota, in 1934.
Dagny met the love of her life, Bernett Mashek in Wyndmere. They were married February 8, 1936. Her husband preceded her in death on February 17, 1974.
Dagny and her husband moved to Ogden in 1942. She was employed at Hill Air Force for one year. In 1943, she worked at the Sahara Village Day Care Center. In 1944 she began employment with the United States Postal Service until 1955. In May of 1956, she began working at the Bank of Utah. She retired from the bank in 1980. “I worked at every position in the bank except as President”. In 1984, Dag modeled with Fashion Room Irregulars to raise funds for St. Benedict’s Hospital and Hospice of Utah.
Dagny was a lifelong Lutheran Christian, being baptized in 1916, confirmed in the faith in 1931, and became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ogden in 1942.
She is survived by her sister, Ogla Lee, of Kindred, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
Dagny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bernett; one daughter, Vyonne Jean Bradford; two brothers, Edd Jordheim and Eddie Jordheim; five sisters, Clara Fluto, Sylvia Mashek, Margaret Campbell, Alma Rajotte, and Synoff Jordheim, all formerly of North Dakota.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 9 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 3329 Harrison Blvd.
Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
It was Dagny’s wish that memorials be given to St Paul Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
