Dakota Austin Hazelwood, 29, of Roy, earned his wings on July 16, 2023.
The son of Cara Beth Baume and Clayton Louis Hazelwood, Dakota was born December 25, 1993 in Glendale, Arizona. He was a Christmas present who kept on giving of himself and entertaining those who loved him best with his free spirit and carefree nature.
After graduating from high school, Dakota worked as a drafter in metal fabrication.
Dakota had so many things he enjoyed there is not enough paper to list them all, so his hobbies have been narrowed down to those that made him smile the most. If he could have gone camping, fishing, and hunting ’24-7’ he would have, and getting him to put down his weapons was near impossible. In addition to being a shooting enthusiast, he rode his motorcycle and worked on his truck, ‘Big Red’ so often they were just extensions of himself. When he was not working on those, he would be tucked away creating just about anything on his 3D Printer.
His greatest love was his daughter, Mazikeen Lea. If they weren’t jamming out to tunes or playing outside, one would simply find them snuggled up together – she was his shining star.
Dakota’s time on earth was shorter than expected, but as long as his name is spoken, he will live forever.
“We love and miss you always.”
Dakota is survived by his mother, Cara Baume (Steven) Burns, Clearfield; father, Clayton (Debra) Hazelwood, Mandan, ND; daughter, Mazikeen Lea Hazelwood, Layton; siblings, Bruce Cutlip, Haley Hazelwood, Dyllon Edwards; along with the many other members of his extended family and friends, as well as many associates whose lives he touched in innumerable ways.
Cremation is in care of Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
