Dale W. East
1919 ~ 2008
PLAIN CITY – Dale Wade East, 88, of Plain City, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 of natural causes.
The second of four children, he was born May 18, 1919, a son of Alvin David and Louise Wade East. Reared in Warren, he attended Weber High School. He later moved to Plain City, where he resided for 60 years.
Dale married Thelda Craythorn on December 6, 1945 in Farmington, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died March 3, 1987. He married Doris Thurgood Williams on December 10, 1994. She died December 24, 2003.
Dale served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 in the Pacific Theatre. Upon his return, he drove truck for Defense Depot Ogden where he received numerous safe driving awards.
He worked diligently on the family farm for many years, raising hay, tomatoes and beets, and liked to assist local farmers with their crops. For many years, he hauled cattle for other farmers and ranchers to and from the auction, as well as to summer and winter feeding grounds.
Dale was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Plain City 2nd Ward where he served as a Home Teacher.
Surviving are three children, Sherille (Garry) Skeen, Plain City; Bill East, Roy; Kay Johnson, South Ogden; six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Emmett East, Vernon (Joyce) East, and Roma Dominguez.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Plain City 2nd Ward Chapel, 2952 North 4200 West.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Plain City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
