Dale Lloyd Gardner 83, born March 27, 1928 in Deweyville, Utah to Lloyd Montgomery and Clara Burbank Gardner, passed away on Friday April 8, 2011, in his North Ogden home surrounded by his loving family. He married his high school sweetheart, JoAnne Harper on February 12, 1947, in Riverside, Utah. Their vows were solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on June 8, 1948.

Dale grew up in Deweyville and after serving as senior class president, graduated from Bear River High School. He served during World War II. He played football, basketball and baseball at Weber State College and received the award for outstanding athlete of the year. He earned a master''s degree from Utah State University where he was assistant athletic director. He was athletic director at Weber State and director of the Dee Events Center. He served as the Lion''s Club president in Logan and Ogden and was on the South Ogden City Council. Recently he was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers.

His lifelong service in church included serving as mission president in Louisville, KY., and he and his wife also served as missionaries in Singapore and Nauvoo. He served in the the presidency of the Ogden LDS Temple for 9, years serving 3 of those years as president from 2002 to 2005. He was a sealer and ordinance worker in both the Ogden and Nauvoo Temples. He officiated in many family temple ceremonies. He considered his greatest joy and accomplishments to be his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; children and spouses: Roger and DeeAnn Gardner, Ogden; Annette and (Curtis deceased) Jackson, Syracuse; Christine Drecksel, Woods Cross; Kenneth and Jolynn Gardner, Parker, CO; Randale and Diane Gardner, Syracuse; Geri and Daniel Cameron, Pinedale, WY; Jennifer and Shawn Moosman, Parker, CO; 34 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren, with 3 more on the way. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Sterling (Donna) Gardner, Blaine (Ann) Gardner, Jolene (Glade) Jeppson, Corvil Gardner, Fern Gardner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Ward Chapel, 770 East 2100 North, North Ogden, Utah.

Family will meet friends on Monday April 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd
