Dale Newey Hansen

March 3, 1927 ~ July 27, 2015

The morning of July 27, 2015, Dale Newey Hansen, passed from this earthly existence on to the next due to complications of a lingering illness.

Dale was born on March 3, 1927 to Arthur and Violet Hansen.  He was raised in the Ogden area working in many positions on various farms.  He graduated from Weber High School and immediately joined the US Navy during WWII.  After that service he joined the US Air Force, which he loved.  This took him around the world.  He won many awards including ski jumping in Japan.  He proudly served from February 1945 to March 3, 1987 and retired with honor at the rank of CMSGT.

February 16, 1952, he married his eternal companion Almyra Dance.  They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  From their union came a daughter and a son, Dana Beth and Scott D.  Together they built a family oriented, happy life in West Weber.

The greatest joy in Dale’s life was his family.  He rarely missed the chance to support his grandkids whether in basketball, baseball, track, rodeo or a 4-H show.  He was our biggest cheerleader.

Dale was an avid golfer, story teller, and mentor.  Ever willing to lend a hand, his sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Dale is survived by his wife, Almyra; daughter, Dana (Ron) Surrage; son, Scott (Vernessa); five grandkids, Shane (Karrie), Sharidy (Nate), Shad, Wyatt, and Harley; and eight great-grandkids.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Violet; five siblings, Delwin, Ila, Sharon, Donna, and John; and one great-granddaughter, Traeya.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the West Weber Cemetery.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the West Weber 1 st Ward Building, 4100 West 900 South.  Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
