Dale C. Johnston, 79, peacefully passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013 at Rocky Mountain Care Center. He was born April 25, 1934 in Hooper, UT, the son of Clarence Lewis "Tobe" and Lea Marie Lambert Johnston. He married Karen Dayle Read on December 5, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple and they spent their married life in Clearfield.
Dale''s highest priority was the love of his family. He was a contractor by trade (Dean & Dale Construction), and a renowned wood finish specialist. He was a master fisherman, an excellent marksman and loved the outdoors, especially the family camping adventures. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He was active in the LDS Church, a YM Advisor, Counselor in the High Priests, a faithful home teacher and coached basketball and baseball for the young men.
He is survived by his wife Karen, daughters: Debra (Dale) Carter, Liberty, UT; Patti (George) Sweeten, Layton UT; Daleen Johnston, Ogden, UT; Bonnie (Steven) Robinson, St. George, UT; Loralee Wilson, Driggs, ID; son Chris Cannon, St. George, UT; 31 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also survived by his sister Lorraine Fowers, Hooper.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his brother Blair (Gloria) Johnston, and brother-in-law Wiley Fowers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
