Dale Bruce Roberts

December 26, 1959 ~ December 2, 2020

Dale Bruce Roberts, 60, passed away at 12:04 a.m. on December 2, 2020 at the Terrace at Mt. Ogden Nursing Home in Ogden, UT after a battle with prostate and bone cancer.

Dale was born at 9:36 a.m. on December 26, 1959 in Logan, UT. He was the second son, of five boys and two girls, of Robert Roberts, Jr. and Karen Ann Olsen. He spent much of his childhood in Deer Park, TX, a suburb of Houston. After the family moved to his father’s family home in Corrigan, TX, he graduated from Corrigan-Camden High School in 1978.

After high school, Dale worked for Champion, the local paper mill. His vagabond lifestyle didn’t allow him to stay in any one place for too long, so he worked many different jobs including a traveling secret shopper and a convenience store clerk.

Dale’s free spirit also didn’t permit him to stay anywhere long enough for him to get more formal education, although he did take some college courses at Angelina College. He was well read and had a working knowledge of many subjects.

Dale never married, but he was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with them playing games and painting his finger and toenails. He was fond of babysitting while his brother and sister-in-law took time away from the kids.

Dale loved reading and watching movies, especially with his mother, Karen Ann. He delighted in reading history, swords and sorcery, science fiction, historical fiction and non-fiction, as well as other forms of fantasy and comic books. He could tell you all about The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, Narnia, and superheroes.

To him, everything was a treasure to be saved and cherished. He would find things on the side of the road, on his walks to and from the library, and collect them. For Dale, nothing or no one should be discarded or thrown away. He appreciated the opportunity to walk to and from the library, especially in the warmer months when he was able to sit in the park and read before going home.

He loved his family and friends deeply, being able to make friends easily, be they man, woman, or child. He spent much of his time at the library reconnecting with old friends, family members, as well as making new friends from all over the world, via Facebook.

Dale spent the last 10 to 15 years acting as a caregiver to his mother, Karen Ann. He helped with the shopping, cooking, and cleaning as well as being a friend and confidant.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Robert Roberts, Jr.; older brothers, Tommy Barnes and Robert Lindsey (Julie); sisters, Valerie Kay Roberts James (David) and Jeanne Roberts; and two nieces. He is survived by his three younger brothers, Tracy Joseph (LaVieve), Eric Kelly (Trichelle), and Joseph Randolph (Kayla); 18 nieces and nephews, 13 grandnieces and nephews and one great-grandniece.

Dale’s remains were cremated and will be interred with his mother, Karen Ann, when she passes away.

A memorial service will be held on January 9, 2021, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon following immediately after at the home of Tracy and LaVieve Roberts, 432 West 760 North Santaquin, UT 84655. Pastor Tracy J. Roberts will be officiating at the service.

In lieu of flowers, a love offering can be given on venmo @Tracy-Roberts-38.

Special thanks to many of Dale’s friends and family who have been generous in helping with expenses incurred upon his death, and the loving caregivers who looked after him and helped Dale transition in his passing.
