Dale E. Stoddard
Dale E. Stoddard, 91, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on March 31, 2012 in Libby, Montana. He was born on November 28, 1920 to Roy and Lucinda Brooks Dillree in Ogden, Utah. He later changed his name to Dale Stoddard in regards to his stepfather, Dee Stoddard.
He lived most of his life in Ogden, Utah with the last 10 years in Libby, Montana. After graduating from Ogden High School, he valiantly served our country in the Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged due to combat injuries in November of 1945. For his service, he received the Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, Bronze Battle Star, Bronze Star, Philippine Defense Ribbon, and the Purple Heart.
Dale married Barbara Purrington on May 31, 1946 in Ogden, Utah. She passed away on June 4, 1998. On April 22, 2001, he married LuRee Fuller in Ronan, Montana.
He was a member of the Catholic Church. Dale was a knowledgeable salesman who sold to local Ogden City shops. He loved fishing and was a master tinkerer.
Dale is survived by his wife, LuRee of Libby, Montana; son, Steve Dehaan of Benning, California; daughter, Marcia Brenner of Ogden, Utah; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Stoddard; daughter, Brenda Covarrubias; and 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit family on Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
