Dana Joe Ramsey
February 23, 1950 ~ June 3, 2020
Dana Ramsey passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2020 at his home in Layton, UT. Dana was born February 23, 1950 In Richmond, Indiana to Raemus Ramsey and Marjorie Brown Ramsey. Dana was number five of nine children. Dana and his family later moved to California where he was raised. Dana and his family grew up refurbishing and restoring cars; cars that seemed to not have a future… He developed his talent of restoring cars, which lead to a life-long passion. His artistic abilities with body work of restoring many old cars was countless. His eye was keen for seeing and dreaming of the possibilities. Dana enjoyed music, playing the drums, and was a part of a garage band called “Him and the Others”.
Dana attended Ukiah High School and upon graduation married his high school sweetheart, Diane Jackson. They had two children together, Debee and Stacey. They later divorced.
Dana then met and married Sandra Barr (Sandy) and they had two children together, Jamie and Jessica. Dana and Sandy lived most of their married life in Bonney Lake and Buckley, WA. Together they made a home for all four of their children and eventual grandchildren. Dana served in many youth sports programs as a youth coach. He loved dreaming, planning, and making the prettiest yard in the neighborhood. Dana was always dependable and supportive in serving Sandy during her projects with civic responsibilities to the community of Buckley, WA. Dana and Sandy were married for 32 years.
Dana will forever be a 12; the Seattle Seahawks has always been his team. Dana could be found engaged in any type of car show, watching NASCAR, projects in his garage, and listening to the best music with a loud thump. Dana loved to have all his children join him in the garage and taught each of them how to work on ‘restoring projects’. He loved to support his children with their sports and their adventures. He could sit and talk with his children about anything happening in their lives; Dana was always good that way. He loved to ride his motorcycle, ride his bicycle, watch his grandchildren play and chase adventures, over decorate for the Christmas holidays, and anything else he could do to be outside.
Dana had a special twin-like bond with his brother, Allen. They raised their children seven houses apart and on the same road in Bonney Lake. In Dana’s later years, they talked on the phone often about projects in the ‘garage’. Dana was close to all of his siblings and shared common interests in cars. Dad’s younger sisters- Jana, Kim, Jill- were friends throughout his life.
Dana became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after finding a deeper love for his Heavenly Father. Dana was dedicated to his church responsibilities and found a deep meaning in his love for serving. Dana was able to make close friends through his service to the Lord.
Dana married Barbara Dennis and they were later sealed in the Columbia River, WA Temple. They lived in Goldendale, WA and then moved to Layton, UT. Dana forged a close bond with Barbara’s son Jared before Jared’s passing and they are now reunited. During Dana’s declining years Barbara and several of her children; Shane (Mam), Tara (Marty), Loni (Ryan), and Kevin, helped Dana throughout his medical complications due to diabetes. Weekly treats, house projects, dinners, visits and phone calls were the loving way Barbara’s children cared for Dana.
Dana is survived by his children: daughter Debee (Carey) Gold-of Syracuse UT with grandchildren Jaron (Megan) Gold, Haley (Mitch) Kapp, Hanna Gold, Braxton (Araceli) Gold, along with his great grandchildren Harper-Riggins-Brooks, son Stacey Ramsey of Kelseyville CA, daughter Jamie Ward-of Gig Harbor WA with grandchildren Garrett and Copper, and daughter Jessica (Chris) Wyzykowski-of Snoqualmie Ridge WA with grandchildren Ava and Parker.
