Daniel Lynn Evans

January 27, 1944 — April 23, 2025

Let me tell you folks who are reading this today about a proud and thankful cowboy who has just passed away. To those who loved him, I know it’s hard, but please try not to cry, for he is riding God’s trails high up in the sky.

Daniel Lynn Evans rode off into the sunset on the morning of April 23, 2025. A life-long resident of Layton, Utah, loved his home, his family and his country. His true passion was working with horses, and though he was unable to pursue this beloved hobby in his last few years, the longing to ride persisted until he drew his very last breath. He loved his wife, LaRue “Sally” Evans, and longed to be reunited with her since the day she departed this earthly existence on March 30th, 2019. Now they can be together for eternity.

In his journey through life, he touched the lives of so many. His friends were so numerous, it would be difficult to list them all. But if he considered you a friend, you were a member of a select group who could count on his loyalty and support in any endeavor.

In Daniel, his family had a strong, reliable and loving patriarch. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelly “Kim” Bodily (husband Danny). He leaves behind one daughter, JoEllen Cowley (husband Garth), and a son, Dan (wife Darby). He dearly loved and supported his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always proud to hear of the achievements and accomplishments in their lives.

His wish would be that those he cared about feel no guilt in laughter they might feel, he knows how much you care and feel no sorrow in a smile that he is not there to share. Do not grieve forever, he would not want you to. He’d hope that you would carry on the way you always do. The horse he is riding now doesn’t spook, buck or kick, for God stables only perfect horses and now he has his pick.

Happy trails Dad.
