Daniel Jay Gatten
KAYSVILLE a" Daniel Jay Gatten passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011. He was born on April 15, 1967 to O. Jay and Tora Mae Mecham Gatten in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The family moved during his early years to Kaysville, UT. He lettered in soccer at Davis High School, graduating in 1985 and served an LDS mission to the Dominican Republic from 1986 to 1988.
Danny married Laura Christine Butler on August 22, 1989 in the Logan LDS Temple. He earned a BS in International Relations from BYU. He enjoyed working at HHI Corporation in Farmington, UT and the many friends he had there. He was also very active in the LDS Addiction Recovery program where he gave many hours of service.
He loved his family and was very proud of his three sons. He had a kind heart and found happiness in serving others. He had a great sense of humor and we loved listening to his stories. Danny had a passion for soccer. He was intelligent and loved to read and learn. He enjoyed hunting, making stone jewelry, and being with his family.
Surviving are his sons, Spencer Jay (Breanna) and David John, both of Layton, Thomas Matthew and their mother Laura, of Grass Valley, CA, parents, Jay and Tora Gatten, Kaysville, brothers, Oren Scott (Amy) Layton, and Nathan John (Annette) London, England, a sister, Sheri Lynn (Nate) Hinckley, Columbus, IN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 a" 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
