Daniel Virgil Mason
Daniel V. Mason, 61, returned home on January 30, 2010 after a long and courageous 4 year battle with cancer. Dan was born October 9, 1948 in Charleston, SC.
Dan joined the Air Force in 1968 serving numerous tours throughout the world, some of which include: Alaska, Saudi Arabia, Goosebay Labador, Guam, Vietnam, and Utah, where he retired after 23 years in service in 1991. Dan began working with the Davis County School District in April of 1991, as a physical therapist assistant for special education. He had a passion for his job and a love for the children he helped.
Dan had an unconditional love for family, friends, and others blessed enough to have their lives touched by his. Dan was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend with a kind spirit. He was an inspiration to many and brought joy with his continuous compliments, joking personality, flattery, fun filled wit and his stubbornness will never be forgotten.
Dan is survivied by the love of his life, Bev Mason whom he married on November 24, 1973 in Kenmare, ND. He is survived by his 3 sons and spouses: Danny (Lisa), Michael (Vanessa), and Matthew (Krissy); his daughter and spouse DeAnn (TJ); and 10 grandchildren who brought laughter and joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister and her spouse, Michaeline (Bob) Massarini, of Beaver Creek, OH, and 2 nephews; and his step-mother Vera Mason.
Dan was preceded in death by his father Virgil Mason and his mother Geneieve Mason.
The family wants to express a sincere thanks to all the medical personnel who helped Dan along his journey and all those who gave care, love, and support to Dan as well as his family.
A viewing will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Funeral services will follow the viewing Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations can be made to the Mason family whom will disperse the funds to Special Education children in loving memory of Dan.
