Daniel Jay Rose
HOOPER a" Our amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, peacefully left this earth on Friday, August 27, 2010, following a sudden illness at the age of 61.
He was born November 2, 1948, in Ogden, to Darrel Jay and Joyce Elaine Measday Rose. He was the oldest of six children, lived in Northern Utah, and attended Morgan High School.
Dan loyally served with the U.S. Army for six years, including two tours in Germany during the Vietnam War as a teletype operator and in the motor pool.
He married Penny Hiscock in 1971. They had three children, Allison Hope (Shane) Tindall, Dale Jay Rose, and Melanie Elaine (Steve) Justus, all of Okeechobee, FL. They were later divorced. Dan married Bonnie Lou Matteucci on June 14, 1980. They had three children, Jared Jay Rose, Arthur Lee Rose, and Jeremiah Ray Rose, all of Hooper, UT. They were married for 30 years.
Dan was an extremely hard worker and always made sure his family was cared for. He worked at Parker-Hanifin for 22 years; Anderson Lumber for two years; and Hill Air Force Base for three years. His favorite career, however, was driving an ice cream truck around, making many children, and some grown-ups, very happy.
Dan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He camped as often as he could, enjoyed going on long rides, exploring to find whatever there was to find, and spending many quiet hours fishing. He taught his children all he knew and had discovered, and they and all his family loved sharing these activities with him.
Dan enjoyed leatherwork, photography, gardening, coin collecting and raising livestock. He was also a self-proclaimed computer expert, having discovered the method of quickly moving the mouse to make things load faster, as well as an excellent chef with his specialty of "Santa Fe Eggs".
He will be missed by his loving wife, mother, children and grandchildren, Stephen Chaisson, Alson Chaisson and Jonathin Troendel, all of Okeechobee, FL; along with his siblings, Gerald (Robin) Rose, Warren, UT; Michael Rose, Judy Jones, Mary Lou Chard, and Kathleen (Mark) Orton, all of West Point, UT; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded.
Family will meet friends at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
