Darcey David Nye
Darcey David Nye, 70, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the University of Utah Hospital due to severe hemorrhaging of the brain.
He was born October 15, 1938 in Ogden, Utah the son of Lionel David and Helen Searle Nye.
Darcey married Betty Mae Tracy on April 24, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Darcey led a long and distinguished career as a Systems Analyst at Hill Air Force Base and served proudly for 22 years in the Utah National Guard with the Field Artillery.
He led an active and full life dedicating thousands of hours of service to the Utah Fish and Wildlife Department, teaching hunters safety, working with the Boy Scouts and serving faithfully in the LDS Church.
But his greatest passion was for family as the greatest father, grandfather and great-grandfather to three children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His crowning accomplishment is a dedicated life and marriage to his sweetheart of 52 years.
Survived by his wife Betty, daughter Dixie (Alan) Hatch, two sons, Chad (Becca) Nye, Matt (Kazmin) Nye, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and sister Nadia Green.
Preceded in death by his older brother Stephen James Nye.
Darcey lived great, loved great, and will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 4, 09 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
