Our beloved mother, Darlene Elizabeth Beard Fernelius, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 15, 2018.

She grew up in Wanship and Coalville and graduated as Salutatorian of North Summit High School. She also graduated from Brigham Young University in 1954 and remained a dedicated Cougar fan.

She met Ronald Dean Fernelius at the home of a close friend. They were married two days after her graduation from BYU on June 9, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Uintah. She taught school for two years at Washington Terrace before starting their family. They are the parents of 7 children, 25 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren with three more on the way. She was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren attending all concerts, athletic events, awards assemblies, and anything else in which they were involved.

Darlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as ward and stake Relief Society President, Primary President, and teacher in many organizations. Her favorite positions were gospel doctrine teacher and spiritual living teacher in Relief Society. She worked in the German Extraction Program for 25 years and more recently worked with Italian indexing. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, embroidering, reading, and watching her grandchildren in their activities.
