Darlene Mortenson

Darlene Mortenson passed away on the evening of Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 96 years of age.

She was born on September 23, 1917 in Stoddard. Darlene was a lifelong resident of Morgan County.

Darlene had two sons, James and Ted, whom she raised with her husband Glen at their ranch. Glen passed away in 1974 and she continued to take care of her 1200 acres by herself for many years.

Some of Darlene''s stand out characteristics were her hard work ethic, quick witted sense of humor, and her enthusiasm for life. She also had a passion for horses and other farm animals and gardening. In her later years, she was still so full of life, wanting to get out and go for rides around Morgan, eating hamburgers and ice cream, and telling stories about her past.

Darlene is survived by her one son, James Mortenson; and one brother, Lewis Frongner. She has seven grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Glen Mortenson; one son, Edward Glen Mortenson; two brothers, Loy Frongner, and Ivan Frongner; and four sisters, Thelma Rainsdown, Vera Nate, Verda Bartoy , and Barbara Whedalsen.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at South Morgan Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12 to 1 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the ladies who provided home health care up until it became necessary to move into the care center.
