Edith Darlene Sessions Parry

SYRACUSE – Our beautiful, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Edith Darlene Sessions Parry, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014, after being diagnosed with ALS four months ago. Heaven gained another angel just in time for Christmas.

She was born on January 5, 1941, in Woods Cross, Utah, the oldest of five children born to loving parents, Don R. and Lois George Sessions. She was always a great blessing to them and her younger siblings.

She graduated from Davis High School where she met and fell in love with her best friend and high school sweetheart, Bruce G. Parry. They were married on July 31, 1959. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 15, 1960. Together they had four children, who are the treasures of their lives. She graduated from Weber State School of Cosmetology and enjoyed the many friendships made over the years doing hair.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had an unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and served many years in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society, touching many lives. She and dad especially loved their service as ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple. She exemplified Christ-like love and charity to all who knew her, whether by baking cinnamon rolls, making dinner, or lending a listening ear. She loved the gospel and found great joy in serving others.

Her whole heart was devoted to raising her family. She was the perfect example of a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook and clean and bake treats for her family and neighbors. She was always in her apron and thoroughly loved being in the kitchen waiting upon everyone’s wants and needs. Her home was always immaculate, with a place for everything and everything in its place. All she ever wanted was to be a mom and grandma. Her greatest joys in life have been at home, loving and serving her family. No other thing in life brought her more happiness than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She supported them in their various activities and loved every minute of the thousands of games she attended cheering on her loved ones and their teammates. Our fondest memories will be of having sleepovers at Grandma’s, schools out parties, backyard water fights, making milkshakes, St. George trips, pie baking for Thanksgiving, and waking up to Grandma’s famous heart-shaped waffles. We will forever cherish these sweet memories and are so thankful to know we will have a guardian angel watching over all of us.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Brent, and her father and mother-in-law, Grant and Mae Parry.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce, and four children, Darren and Melody Parry, Kelly and Kelly Ross, Cheryl and Brad Muir, and Jeff and Kara Parry. She is also survived by 21 adoring grandchildren, two of whom are currently serving LDS missions, and 16 great-grandchildren, with several babies on the way. Also surviving are two sisters, Donell and Marjorie, and a brother, Rodney.

As a family, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to the many friends and neighbors who stopped by to give love and comfort to our sweet mom. We love you. We know our mom loves you dearly. A special thanks to Andrea, Althea, Rachel, and Melanie whose gentle compassion and care will never be forgotten. You are angels in our eyes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Syracuse 3 rd Ward, 2700 South 1000 West, Syracuse. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
