Darlene A. Roberts
06/21/1936-04/02/2021
Darlene Adams Roberts was born on June 21, 1936, in Salt Lake City. Daughter of Charley and Minnie Nance Adams, she grew up on the Adamswood Farm in Layton, Utah. She loved the farm and helped preserve the historic home and property over the years. Growing up, Dar gained a love of horses. She was skilled at breaking horses and belonged to the Boots and Saddle Riding Club.
In 1953, Darlene graduated from Davis High School. She worked at the Browning Armory, and then later had a full career as a supervisor at Hill Air Force Base.
Darlene met Larry Roberts through letters they wrote to each other while he served in the Vietnam War. When he returned, they were married on December 19, 1966 in Elko, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Darlene and Larry were the parents of two children, Cindy and Charles. Family was always the most important thing to Dar. She was very close to her mother and father, brothers and sisters, children, nieces and nephews. She was the fun Aunt constantly spoiling all the kids. She also had exceptionally close relationship with her granddaughter Lacy, they were inseparable and the best of friends. She had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren Megan, Jordon, Tayler, and Mackenzie. She loved and enjoyed being with her nine great-grandchildren. They brought a smile to her face and kept her feeling young.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught junior Sunday school for many years. She had a clever sense of humor and no one was safe from her practical jokes. She was a wonderful cook. Many people were the recipients of her raisin cookies and raspberry pies.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Minnie Nance Adams; twin sisters Nancene Facer and Charlene Maynard; daughter Cindy Eastman; and daughter-in-law Tiffany Roberts. She is survived by her husband, Larry Roberts; brothers Charles Adams and Douglas Adams; son Charles Roberts; and grandchildren Lacy Adams (Allen Jacobsen), Megan (Byron) Lovan, Jordon Roberts, Tayler Gole, Mackenzie Roberts, and nine great-grandchildren.
