Darlene Schlange
June 7, 1935 ~ July 19, 2022
Darlene Schlange, 87, passed peacefully on July 19, 2022 after a valiant battle with dementia.
She was born June 7, 1935 in Downey, ID to Cecil Wise and Veda Ann Barnes; the middle child of seven. She had a happy, active childhood in Downey. She spent it babysitting and playing baseball.
Darlene met Don Schlange on a blind date, and they were married on July 23, 1960. They shared 57 happy years together and had four children, Diane (Dale) Hulet, Steven Schlange, Patricia Davenport, and Peggy Schlange; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mom loved her children, and her grandchildren were the apple of her eye.
Darlene was never idle. She loved doing her yardwork. She was still doing her own lawn work until she was 82 and no longer able to do what she loved so much.
Our mom never met a stranger. Everyone who met her loved her. She was always taking care of others, whether it be feeding them, tending to a sick loved one or just being her silly sweet self. She brought happiness wherever she went.
Darlene is survived by her four children and grandchildren; her brother, Fred (Bonnie) Wise of Idaho; sister, Arlene Parris also of Idaho; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Schlange of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Schlange; grandson, Casey Davenport; son-in-law, Les Davenport and one brother and three sisters.
The family would like to thank Bristol Hospice for the tender loving care they gave to our mother and family. Sid thank you for taking care of Gram. We would have been lost without you.
Mom thank you for all the love, laughter you brought to our lives. You are our heart and soul. Until we meet again. Enjoying dancing with dad.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Darlene’s memory.
