Darrel Ames

Our loving father and grandfather, Darrel Ames, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the age of 88, at Barrington Place in Clinton.

Darrel was born July 29, 1929 in Parker, Idaho, a son of William Leslie and Carrie Eliza Stoddard. He graduated from Davis High School. He married the love of his life, Nola Parkinson, November 19, 1948, in Edmunds, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 20, 1959. Darrel was a wonderful husband and father of four children.

Darrel bravely served our country in the Army, receiving a purple heart when he was wounded during the Korean War. He was an active member of the LDS church. He had a fulfilling career with Hill Air Force Base. He enjoyed golfing, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Darrel is survived by his children: Sharon (Don) Gates; Dennis (Maureen) Ames; six grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Darrel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nola; and two sons: Robert Darrel Ames and Steven Leslie Ames; his parents, William Leslie and Carrie Eliza Stoddard; sisters: Lucille Gardner, and MarDean Dayton; and brother, Everett Ames.

Darrel was a kind, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great example to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
