Darrel H. Gailey
OGDEN – Darrel Heber Gailey, 86, left the bonds of earthly life on Monday, January 5, 2009 and returned to his Father’s Kingdom. He was welcomed home by two daughters, Lila Mae and Lynnette and escorted into his eternal loving wife Mae’s arms by his son Darrel. He was greeted by his and Mae’s parents, Delbert and Verna Gailey, Otho and Rhoda Sevy, respectively. Also joining this joyous reunion were four sisters, Zelda, Venna, Martha, and Janeen, and six brothers, Charles, Read, Bert, Wayne, Theo, and Clyn. Darrel is now also pulling grandfatherly pranks on two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Darrel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On August 8, 1942 Darrel married the love of his life, Alberta Mae Sevy. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1961. Together they raised a family of six children. His love passed away July 6, 2008.
Darrel served his fellowman with honor during WWII, protecting our freedoms. While fighting in Germany he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Darrel retired as Fire Chief at HAFB Lakeside Testing Range. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but later gave it up, as taking his sons money at cards was much more satisfying. We will miss him.
He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Marsha) Gailey, Brigham City; Rick (Pauline) Gailey, Clearfield; and Charles (Julie) Gailey, Brigham City; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Colen (Delma) Gailey, Hooper.
