Darrel Neils Gardner

Darrel Neils Gardner, 88, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Davis Hospital. He was born September 26, 1922 in Lund, Nevada to Victor and Devona Jensen Gardner, the third of 11 children. He served during WWII in The Navy. He retired from HAFB as an aircraft electrician after 35 years of service.

Darrel married Shirley M. Nobblitt on September 6, 1955. He was a member of the LDS Church and was affiliated with the Layton Eagles, Layton JayCee''s, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed camping, bowling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Michael (Lorrie) Gardner, Layton; Dennis (Shelli) Gardner, Layton; Sheryl (Joe) Benton, Layton; Roger (Kimmi) Gardner, Augusta, GA; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and his special friend Ardis Edwards. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley and son John.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 11 am. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton.
