He was born April 13, 1930 in Ogden, Utah to Earl S. Hunt and Alice M. Williams. He was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School.

He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1948 to 1954. In 1955, he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1986. The last 13 years of which he was on the supervisor staff. He absolutely loved his job. Whenever you talked to him, he would soon turn the subject to the railroad. He was a railroader through and through. As a hobby, he would put his kids and his wife in the car and drive up the canyon just to watch the trains.

His other hobbies included fishing, boating, and some golf and gambling. He would wear those penny machines out at Wendover. He always loved to travel and saw to it that we always had a summer vacation. After he met his second wife, they joined the Squaw Peak Sam’s chapter in the Provo, Utah area and traveled all over the Western states. He loved it and they were always on the go. They were snowbirds every winter, headed for the warm Arizona sun.

In his younger days, he was very good at fixing things and teaching his children that skill as well. He was truly a great father and family man and we will miss him dearly. He was always welcomed as part of LaRenna’s family during their marriage.
