PLEASANT VIEW - Darrell passed away on January 31, 2013. He fought a valiant fight against a very aggressive cancer. He was born on August 22, 1936 to Henry Drew and Gaitha Woolsey Butterfield in Ogden, Utah.

He attended Weber High School and received his Electrician License at Weber College. He worked as a Master Electrician with the IBEW Ogden 217 and Salt Lake City 354 for 45 years, traveling to Illinois, Idaho, Wyoming, California and other states to work.

Darrell married Judith "Judy" Ruby Johnston on May 19, 1954. They had two sons and two daughters and were later divorced. He married Patricia Whatley Kershaw on November 29, 1974. She had one son from her first marriage that Darrell loved and raised as his own.

He taught his children a love of the outdoors, taking them boating, camping and hiking. He retired from the electrical trade in 1998. He now had time to re-kindle his love of Hot Rods. After Pat retired they enjoyed traveling, riding their ATV''s and showing his most recent Hot Rod, a 1937 Chevy 5-window.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pat; mother, Gaitha; sons Rodney Darrell (GayLee) Butterfield, Vacaville, CA; Cory Ray (Katina) Butterfield, LaQuinta, CA; daughters, Dawn (Rick) Sutherland, Willard, UT; Jill (Leonard Tommy) Stain, Willard, UT; and stepson, Darrell Leon Kershaw, Ogden, UT; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Jerry (Pat) Butterfield, West Weber, UT, and Michael (Robyn) Butterfield, South Ogden. He really loved his whole family and treated them all with the highest regard and affection.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
