Darrell Duane Kirstine, a dedicated educator who spent 31 years shaping young minds in Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024. He was born in Pierce, Nebraska on June 28, 1939 and led a life filled with service and learning.
Darrell's passion for education was evident throughout his career, which included nine years as a school Principal. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Education and Driver's Education from Wayne State College, followed by a Master's degree in Industrial Education from NW Missouri State, and a Specialist Degree in School Administration from Wayne State College.
In addition to his contributions to education, Darrell served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962, demonstrating his commitment to both his country and his community.
Darrell later on married the love of his life Marlene Beers in 1964, and start a family of their own, had three beautiful children, Lynda, Michael and Susan.
Darrell Kirstine is survived by his three children - Lynda Kirstine, Michael (Margo) Kirstine, and Susan Kirstine; as well as his three grandsons - Jacob, Benjamin, and Zachary Kirstine. He is also fondly remembered by his brother Keith Kirstine, sister Sharon Miller, and preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Erma Kirstine, brother David, and sister Virginia.
Darrell will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy as an educator, leader, and loving family man will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
