Darrell Wayne Oram

Darrell Wayne Oram, 75 years of age, passed away in Ogden, Utah on June 13, 2008, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 16, 1932, in Ogden to William Richard Oram and Verna Covington and was reared by his mother and step-father, Thomas Beasley, after his father''s death. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1950. Darrell was stationed in Panama and Greenland, during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1954, as a communications chief in the U.S. Army.

He married Esther Elaine Johnson on March 3, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married 47 years and the parents of six children: Kristine (Lloyd) Johnson, David (Linda) Oram, Bridgett (Stephen) Ashcraft, Rick (Alisa) Oram, Todd (DeAnn) Oram and Teresa (Russell) Buhler. Elaine passed away in November of 2001.

He was employed at Hill Air Force Base where he retired as a section chief in 1987.

Darrell married Glenda Tulane on June 3, 2006. He enjoyed traveling with Glenda and enjoyed recent trips to Alaska and the Caribbean. He was an active member of the LDS church where he held many stake and ward positions. He was devoted to the Scouting program serving for 50 years and was honored as a Silver Beaver recipient. Darrell is survived by his wife Glenda, his brother Ellis Petersen, his brother-in-law Robert L. Johnson, his children, 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine, and a grandson Karl David Oram.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at McKay Dee Hospital, and especially Dr. Carl Gray, for the loving care Darrell received during his battle with leukemia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m., at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, Darrell requested donations be made to The Boy Scouts of America - Trapper Trails Council, 1200 East 5400 South, Ogden, UT 84403.
