David Gerald Barfuss

August 27, 1955 ~ November 29, 2015

David Gerald Barfuss passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2015.

He was born August 27, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Gerald and Mary Barfuss. His family resided in the Salt Lake City area, where he attended and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1973. After graduating, Dave set off to serve the Lord for two years on an LDS Mission to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Upon returning home from serving the people of Pennsylvania, he met and married Peggy Hansen and the two made their home in Roy, Utah where they raised their four children; Tyler (Janika), Tate (Stefany), Thomas (Crystal), and Shaylee.

He pursued many different professional ventures including working for Coca Cola where he oversaw youth marketing services in the Salt Lake Valley, most recently for the Larry H. Miller Group at The Vivint Smart Home Arena. However, we all know that his true professional calling was being “The Big O Tire Guy” working for, managing, and owning various Big O Tire stores across the Wasatch Front.

Dave had many passions; however two immediately come to mind. First is the Ogden Raptors baseball. There was nowhere else he’d rather be than at Lindquist Field watching the Raptors with his family and friends. The second was his children. Throughout each of our lives, there wasn’t a sports game that he missed, or a blown call by a ref or umpire that he let go unnoticed. Whether he had a 20 lb. white cast on his foot, had to sneak his white Yukon into a restricted parking zone, or had to be wheeled in by a wheel chair, he was going to be there. We are forever grateful for his love and support.

David is survived by his loving family who meant the world to him and thought the world of him, seven grandchildren, more loving caregivers than we can mention, and countless lives that he touched through a Christ-like love, kindness, and compassion that came without limits or questions.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. Funeral services will take place Thursday, December 3rd at 10 a.m., with a viewing prior to services from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Roy North Stake Center, 4250 South 2175 West, Roy.

Interment, Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
