David E. Bean
KAYSVILLE – David E. Bean, a long-time resident of Kaysville, Utah, died on October 29, 2013 at age 84. He was the youngest child of Joseph M. and Permilla Rogers Bean, born January 2, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Uintah Elementary, Irving Junior High and East High School. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Utah and his law degree from George Washington University. He learned a solid work ethic at a young age. He sold the Saturday Evening Post and Ladies’ Home Journal magazines and was a paperboy for the Deseret News, the Salt Lake Tribune and Salt Lake Telegram. He worked at the Safeway warehouse and the General Motors warehouse while going to college, and was an insurance adjuster while in law school. He lived a life of service to his family, community, and church. He served a mission in Scotland and then served in the Marine Corps in Korea.
David married Elaine Sims (who predeceased him), in the Salt Lake Temple on June 10, 1954 and upon their return from their honeymoon went steer hunting with the front end of their Buick. They were the parents of ten children. He practiced law in Layton, Utah, for over 50 years partnered with his brother, K. Roger Bean for much of that time. He still went to work at the law office until a few weeks ago. David also served on the Davis County Library Board, as Mayor of Kaysville, as a scoutmaster and served faithfully in many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though not perfectly faithful to all of the truths of the Gospel made known to him, he was perfectly committed to be faithful. David married Lois Wright Smuin, on March 17, 2006, and added a wonderful family to enrich his life.
David is survived by his wife, Lois and children Carolie (Glenn) Parker, Shauna (Jeffrey) Yarbrough, Cory (Alayna) Bean, Gaynell (Guy) Parker, Joseph (Eve) Bean, Clark (Sharon) Bean, Emilie (Charles) Baxter, Daniel (Katy) Bean and his dog, Bradley.
He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Bean and Merrill (Joan) Bean; also a sister-in-law, Barbara Sansom and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
