David Robert Call

August 4, 1954 — July 23, 2024

David Robert Call passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of July 23rd, 2024.

Born on August 4, 1954 to Robert and Donna Call. David was a mischievous boy, always keeping his parents on their toes. His love for the outdoors began early and remained a powerful part of him throughout his life. As a young boy, his older cousin, Brody Palmer, would take him hunting and fishing with friends. Their adventures continued throughout their lives, right up until Brody's recent passing one month ago. As his family grew, David continued camping, fishing, hunting, and skiing, passing that love and appreciation to his children.

David graduated from Bonneville High School in 1972 and then served an LDS mission in France and Switzerland. After returning, he attended Weber State and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

David met his beautiful wife, Julie Sessions, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 7, 1979. Together, they had four children: Angie (Scott) Nielsen, Brody (Amy) Call, Cassi (Jon) Nance, and Nicole (Derrik) Schweppe. They were also blessed with 13 grandchildren.

His career spanned various industries, including healthcare, construction, and real estate. A devoted member of the LDS Church, David loved the gospel and served in many callings. One of his favorites was serving the young adults at the Weber State University ward.

Creativity and talent were evident in everything Dave did. Following in his father's footsteps, he excelled in oil and watercolor painting. He was a master builder and could fix anything.

David was always serving others, never asking for anything in return. He taught through love, support, and acceptance, making everyone feel like they were his favorite.

David loved going on trips with family and friends, with the Green River, Strawberry, and Bear Lake being his favorites. Bear Lake, in particular, was a staple in his childhood, and he continued visiting with his kids and later his grandkids. They spent many weeks there in the summer swimming, playing lawn games, watching movies, and building the most impressive sandcastles.

As a young dad, David was always playing and laughing with his children and loved to take them, and most the neighborhood kids, on little adventures. Whether it was a trip to Erz for treats, pulling everyone on sleds behind his truck in the snow, playing steamroller, or throwing kids across the pool in Bear Lake. He never stopped as they chanted “one more time.” These activities earned him the name “Chasing Grandpa” from his grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his brother Brett, his sister Shanna (Brett) Moyes, his children and 13 grandchildren.

Special thanks to Suncrest Hospice for their care and support.
