David Cowlishaw, 77, died Monday May 29, 2017, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He was born September 22, 1939, to Agnes Parker and Frank R. Cowlishaw in Los Angeles, CA. Dave spent his growing up years in Clinton, Ogden, and Sunset, UT, Minnesota, and Los Angeles, CA.

At age 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for four years. Shortly after his military service, he married his wife, Cheryl Chipman on July 13, 1963, in Los Angeles, California. They quickly started their family and moved to Provo, Utah, where Dave completed his education at BYU. After graduation they moved to Malad, Idaho, where Dave taught school for 28 years and they raised their family.

He loved people and enjoyed sharing his talents and interests with others. Dave retired from teaching in 2002, when he and Cheryl moved to Clinton, Utah, near his childhood home. Cheryl preceded him in death on March 13, 2006.

He is also preceded by his three brothers, Robert, Paul and Richard. Dave is survived by his four children Brian, Chad, Jared, and Kaylene (Spraker), four grandchildren, Gabi, Jake, Gavin, Hailey, two sisters, Marilyn, Diane, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 W. 5600 S. The family will meet with friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clinton City Cemetery.
