David Raymond Cox, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this mortal existence on June 17, 2017. He will be greatly missed, but he will now be reunited with his lifelong sweetheart, Janis and so many loved ones who have gone before him.
David was born on December 18, 1919 in Orangeville, Utah, to Robert Raymond and Florence Mary Evans Cox. He spent an idyllic childhood in and around Orangeville.

After World War II commenced, David enlisted as an officer in the Marine Corps. He was deployed almost immediately after marriage to Janis. As an artillery commander, he fought in Saipan, Tarawa, and Tinian. During his four years of military service, David and Janis frequently exchanged letters and photographs, which reflected their deep love for one another.
After the war, David continued his studies at the University of Utah, where he earned a Master’s degree and a doctorate of Philosophy. He also pursued a family. David and Janis had six children, five daughters, and one son. He was first and foremost, a family man.

During this time, David and his family saw many of the world’s wonders.
In 1968, David returned to Utah to become a professor of Educational Psychology at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. He held that position until he retired in 1986.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions in the church. He and Janis served a mission to the Regina, Saskatchewan Mission.
David loved to read and travel. He spent many summer days with his family at their cabin in Fish Lake, Utah. He cherished family above all else. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a beautiful mind and heart, a warm and funny sense of humor, and the most amazing blue eyes.
