David Calvin Crittenton, Jr.
David Calvin Crittenton, Jr. passed away peacefully July 25, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Dave was born October 19, 1938 in Florence, Alabama to Reverend David Calvin Crittenton, Sr. and Helen Mitchell Crittenton.
Dave married the love of his life Vera Gray, on July 24, 1956, and had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Together Dave and Vera have 6 children, Melba (Rick) Roberson, Atlanta, GA; Marvin Crittenton, Karen (Carnell, CJ) Johnson, Clearfield, UT; Anita Crittenton, Layton, UT; Michelle Crittenton, Layton, UT; and Sonji Crittenton, Arlington, TX.
Dave served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Draftsman retiring on June 30, 1976. After retiring he became the Director of the Clearfield Job Corp Center. He then went to Albany, GA; and started the Job Corp Center there. After leaving Job Corp he began working for Odorite of Utah where he was the owner/CEO.
Dave greatly loved and appreciated all his customers from northern Utah all the way to Las Vegas. Dave also loved his family very much and always taught us to love one another.
Dave is survived by his wife Vera, his 6 children, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, half-brother Robert (Eva) Doxie, Florence, AL; brother-in-law, Charles (Ruby) Armstead, sister-in-laws, Essie Mitchell, Florence, AL; Gwendolyn Mitchell, Florence, AL; and his aunt Odell Howell who helped raise him.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
Dave''s family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jason M. Stinnett, Dr. Warren L. Butler, Nancy Weber, nurses Lisa and Alisha Keller, and Liz B. with Rocky Mtn. Care Hospice for their care for our dad and Auntie Basis for hanging in there with us. Dave was greatly loved by all and he will be deeply missed. WE LOVE YOU DAD AND GRANDPA "DCC."
