David Bruce Dabb

August 29, 1943 ~ September 4, 2014

David Bruce Dabb, 71, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2014.  He was born in Ogden on August 29, 1943, the son of Stanley Poorte and Rose Melba Allred Dabb.  David was raised and except for a few years in Harrisville spent most of his life in Ogden.

He married Kathleen Allred on August 10, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple.

David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving a mission in the Southern Australian Mission from 1962 to 1964 and later as a High Councilman, a Bishop’s Counselor, and as a Bishop. His legacy was a life of loving service.

In 2002, David retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 32 years as a computer systems analyst.

David enjoyed hiking, fishing, and hunting with his brothers, cousins, and children, and camping with his family. He was a great tease and loved to have fun.  He was a handyman and loved to discover how things worked.

He was always positive and never complained, having the remarkable gift of seeing the good in everything. He did not allow his Parkinson’s to define him, but his love did.

David is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen; children, Traci (Tom) Rane, Rexburg, ID; Brian (Melissa) Dabb, Orem; Darrell (Cindy) Dabb, West Haven; Deneice (Lafe) Hunter, Clinton; Dyanne (Juan) Murdoch, Idaho Falls, ID; Sheri (David) Barton, Rexburg, ID; Brandon (Lora) Dabb, Aurora, CO; Nathan (Shauna) Dabb, Plain City; Jessica (Tom) Powell, Rawlins, WY; Alyson (Matt) Driggs, Ogden; Halee (Blake) Welch, North Ogden; and Garold (Charlene) Begay, Shiprock, NM; 51 grandchildren with one on the way; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Carol (Harold) Bowers, Island Park, ID; siblings, Jeanette (Brent) Sorenson, Layton; Rosalie Poulson, Ogden; Kevin (Janice) Dabb, Kaysville; and Kim (Debbie) Dabb, Clinton.
