David “Dave” Hunter Wood
July 19, 1950 ~ October 6, 2022
David “Dave” Hunter Wood passed away peacefully Thursday, October 6, 2022, at the age of 72, in Clearfield, Utah, surrounded by his family. Dave was born in Davenport, Iowa, on July 19, 1950, to John Austin and Patricia Lee Cummins Wood. Dave graduated from Saint Joseph's in Ogden, Utah, in 1968. He then enlisted in the United States Navy on July 1, 1971, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star-Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He then worked as an Aircraft Ordinance Systems Mechanic at Hill AFB, where he later retired.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Thelissa Dee Plyer; son, Nathan Austin Wood and sister, Christine Ann Tarvin; his nine beautiful grandchildren; his niece, Nicholle Nicholls; and his nephew, David Antony "Tony" Tarvin.
His biggest passion was refurbishing old cars and motorcycles, in which he was highly talented. As he got older, his love grew to build model cars, planes, and anything he could get his hands on. Dave's free time was spent on his bike, which he loved dearly.
We will miss his feistiness, random funny memes, pictures of his cats, and handyman skills; he could fix anything.
We want to thank all those that helped the family with so much during the care of Dave.
A celebration of life will be held in Dave’s honor Saturday, October 22, 2022. Details can be found on Dave Wood and Thelissa Dee Plyer’s Facebook page. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
