Sergeant First Class David L. Dayton
OGDEN - On Thursday, March 26, 2009, Sergeant First Class David L. Dayton of Ogden, Utah, and formerly of St. Louis, MO, died at his home in Ogden due to complications of cancer. He was 50.
Dave was born September 5, 1958, at St. Louis, MO, to Elmer and Violet (Howard Parum) Dayton. He grew up in St. Louis and Rolla, MO.
On May 1, 1999, he married Mandi Bratt, (daughter of Carolyn Baggett and Brian J. Cregg) in Roy, UT.
Dave was a highly decorated Sergeant First Class with more than 32 years of combined, active and reserve military service in the United States Army. He served bravely and faithfully in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served in multiple undisclosed locations, with great distinction.
He enjoyed camping, gardening, woodworking, barbequing, landscaping and the great outdoors.
Surviving Dave are his wife, Mandi Bratt, his daughter, Elizabeth (Fabio) Salas, and step-son Jacob B. Richardson (18); one grandchild, Christian J. Salas; his brothers, Raymond of Geneseo, IL; James of St. Louis, MO; and Ralph Schwartz of Kentucky; and his sister Sherri of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation honoring Dave will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Interment will take place at a later date.
